HOME BOUND MEAL PROGRAM
HELP! Do you know someone that is home-bound and is 60 years of age or older, who would enjoy a hot lunch delivered each day ? We would like to extend our home-bound meal program and feel there must be a lot of people who could benefit from our program -- but we need to know who and where they are. You do not have to be permanently homebound to qualify. Quite often an individual may only need meals for a short period of time while recovering from surgery, ect. Others may need them from now on.
We currently have a delivery route which covers a radius of two miles outside the city limits of Houston. We have a few volunteers who will deliver meals outside that area when we find eople who need and want the meals. We would like to extend our program to the Raymondville, Yukon, Elk Creek, Simmons, Bendavis, Bado, Bucyrus, Success, Huggins, and Roby areas, and all points in-between, so we need more volunteers and names of eligible people in those areas. We will reimburse volunteers 30 cents per mile for delivering meals.
If you know of anyone in Houston or the surrounding area that would benefit from this program, or if you would like to volunteer to deliver meals one or more days each week, please contact Bernadine Hohlt houstonsca@pcis.net here at the Senior Center or call 417-967-4119 or 417-967-2013.
