Here it is nearly spring and I'm ready of it this year. I'm looking forward to getting outside, the warmer weather and sunshine. But spring is not all good. She also brings severe thunder storms and tornadoes. Now is the time to brush up on your plans for severe weather. Ensure that your family knows the proper place to go and review and check your emergency plans and supplies. The fire department provides storm spotters for this area and they have recently attended a class to brush up on what to look for, and who to report to.
Some of you may have noticed the training at the Roby Fire Station. This refreshed our old fire fighters and trained new ones on the proper use and operation of the trucks. As weather warms up, we hope to have more of these sessions. Several fire fighters are attending a six month course sponsored by the State of Missouri.
The Fire Department responded to four structure fires in the month of January.
Remember the donkey basketball game last April?? The auxiliary has a game planned for the 20th of April at the Plato Gym at 7:30pm. If you saw it last year you know how hiliarious it was and if you didn't you missed a great night of good clean , fun family entertainment. Come this year so you'll know what everyone is laughing about. The auxiliary always needs help and donations for the event. On their wish list is deserts, such as cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and similar things. Cash donations are welcomed.
All our meetings are at the Roby Fire Station. The general membership meeting is the third Wednesday at 7:00pm and the auxiliary meetings are the second Tuesday at 7:00pm. A potluck supper is at 6:00pm Everyone is welcome to attend either or both meetings. Hope to see you at the meetings. Until then be safe.
