Texas County Branch Library

Cabool is a member of the Texas County Library system and offers a full service branch library in the city with computer and internet services. Our library offers the traditional services with a variety of books as well as books on tape that are made available from the main library and the state library.


Day Care Center

The Children's Place is a state licensed non-profit organization. Started in 1978 by a group of citizens, the day care center has been a preschool environment for many of the children of Cabool. The Children's Place is run by a board that oversees management and fundraising. It is located next to Roberts Park.


Senior Citizen's Center

With a new facility constructed in the spring of 2002, the Cabool Senior Center gives the older members of our community an opportunity to interact in a variety of activities.

Services available through the center include noon meals served at the senior center, hot noon meals delivered to home bound customers, homemaker chore services (lighthouse keeping), taxing counseling for the elderly, legal aid, information & assistance, nutrition education, free monthly blood sugar screening and volunteer opportunities.

Activities include computer classes, quilting, pool tables, shuffleboard, puzzles, ceramic classes and special events and celebrations.


YMCA

The Cabool branch of the Ozarks YMCA offers modern exercise equipment in its 5000 square foot facility. Year-round recreational activities such as soccer, aerobics, basketball, football, and crafts are available to area youth.


Nursing Home

Providing the care for the elderly in Cabool, the Kabul Nursing Home is a 99-bed full service facility. The nursing home offers many services which include in and out patient physical therapy, contracted occupational and speech therapy, medical services from local physicians, and an activity program.


Pineview Heights Senior Apartments

For senior independent living, Cabool offers Pineview Heights, a 75 unit apartment complex. The one bedroom apartments are perfect for senior singles or couples. The lobby area offers a large common lounge and cafeteria. Handicap accessible and extended care apartments are available.


 

 

Texas County Memorial Hospital is located 16 miles north of Cabool on Highway 63, in the heart of Texas County. The service area of TCMH covers a 40 mile radius of Houston.

The hospital is a 66 bed facility, which offers complete surgical, obstetrical, emergency, and physical therapy services. Ancillary services include 24 laboratory, diagnostic radiology, and cardiopulmonary departments. Additionally, TCMH offers home health, hospice, and cardiac rehabilitation.

TCMH takes our medical care one step further by providing an emergency department staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, complete with hospital based advanced life support ambulance. Air flight service is also available for emergency situations. Wri-Tex 911 service is available in the Cabool area with an ambulance base in this city.

At TCMH you will also find a new state-of-the-art Physical Therapy Department with a new Swim-Ex water exercise pool. Water exercise can be used to increase circulation, muscle strength, joint viscoelasticity, flexibility, and range of motion.

Residents of Texas County can be extremely proud of the caliber of Physicians at TCMH. With strategic placement of clinics in Cabool, Houston, Licking, and Plato, TCMH has developed a strong core of primary care physicians, or Family Practice physicians, who can diagnose and treat a wide range of problems and are trained to care for their patients through all stages of life.

Along with Family Care Physicians, TCMH has numerous specialists on Staff. These specialists include: Cardiology, Dermatology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pathology, Pediatrics, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, Pulmonology, Radiology, and Urology.


Recycling Program

The City of Cabool provides a recycle program to the citizens of Cabool and the surrounding area. This free service is provided to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Cabool.

The city operates a free drop-off site for all citizens Parks and Recreation building located on the end of Shelton Drive. The city also offers a curbside pick-up for those that live in the city limits. The curbside service is done on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

The items that can be recycled are: #1 plastic, #2 plastic, glass, tin cans, aluminum, all kinds of cardboard, and paper including magazines and books.
